What is Zenthai Shiatsu?

Zenthai Shiatsu is a dynamic, restorative form of bodywork that blends Thai Massage, Zen Shiatsu, and Osteopathic techniques into a fluid, movement-based practice. Often I describe it as someone doing yoga on your body for you guiding your body through stretches, pressure, and mindful movement that create space, softness, and deepen your breath.

Rather than working only on individual muscles, Zenthai responds to the body as an interconnected whole. It invites spaciousness where things feel tight, dispersion where there is tension, and clarity where there is overwhelm. Each session is personalised to you in the moment but they can feel grounding, nurturing, and deeply supportive.

A practice woven from three modalities

Thai Massage
A rhythmic, movement-based therapy using gentle stretching, joint mobilisation, and compressions that encourage openness and ease.

Zen Shiatsu
A Japanese modality that applies palm and finger pressure along the body’s pathways to support flow.

Osteopathic Techniques
Gentle, hands-on techniques that support posture, structure, and function, helping the body return to its natural alignment.

T

ogether, these approaches create a practice that feels like a dance between movement and stillness, strength and softness, giving and receiving.

How it works: a conversation with the body

A session takes place on a soft mat, with you fully clothed in comfortable, loose layers. Using hands, elbows, knees, and feet, I guide your body through stretches and supportive movement while applying nourishing pressure.

Unlike a traditional massage, where the experience is largely passive, Zenthai Shiatsu is interactive. Your body is moved, lengthened, opened, and invited into new shapes that encourage space and relief. Through this movement, tension begins to dissolve, and the body naturally settles into a more grounded rhythm.

Why Zenthai Shiatsu?

Zenthai Shiatsu isn’t just a treatment or a massage, it’s an experience of coming back to yourself.

People often say that have experienced:

Release of tension and stress
Gentle movement and pressure help unwind the body, encouraging the nervous system into a more restful state.

Improved mobility and flexibility
Passive stretching and joint mobilisation create freedom of movement and a sense of spaciousness.

Emotional softening
We often hold emotions in the body. Zenthai offers a supportive space where breath can deepen and stored tension can release.

A clearer, steadier mind
As the body unwinds, the mind often follows, creating a feeling of clarity and grounding.

Improved circulation and digestive ease
Movement-based techniques encourage healthy blood and lymph flow, supporting the body’s processes.

What to expect in a session

No two sessions are alike. Each treatment responds to your body on the day, your breath, your energy levels, the areas that feel tight, tender, or tired.

During a session, you may experience:

• deep release as your body is stretched and opened
• gentle pressure on key points that help soften tension
• moments of stillness where breath and body settle together
• a feeling of lightness or spaciousness after movement sequences

Zenthai invites you to receive, something we often forget how to do.
This practice holds space with presence, care, and respect for whatever arises.
