What Does It Mean To Reset Your Nervous System?
Our bodies are constantly listening…. to our environment…. our stress levels…. to the pace we are traversing through life….
The nervous system is the web that digests these signals, deciding whether we’re safe enough to rest, or whether we need to stay alert. In today’s world, many of us linger in that alert state longer than our bodies would ideally love to be.
A nervous system reset doesn’t mean to escape life, or to “switch off” completely. It’s giving the body a chance to pause and remember what safety feels like. When we feel safe, the breath deepens, muscles soften, and the mind clears. This state is where rest and digest can flourish.
One approach to a nervous system reset is through Zenthai Shiatsu. Zenthai works through applied pressure, mindful movement, and presence. These practices signal to the body that it’s okay to let go. In a session, no two moments are alike, some may be dynamic and moving, others could be more static and grounding. But always, the intention is the same: to support your body in finding balance again.
When we reset the nervous system, we’re not only tending to tension in the body, we’re creating space for vitality and clarity to return.
If you’re curious to experience this, bookings are available in Bright and Wangaratta.
Another great way to nervous system reset is though Yoga Nidra, which translates to “yoga sleep.” This guided practice leads you into a liminal space between wakefulness and sleep, a place where the body can deeply rest, while the mind stays aware. In this state tension eases, and the nervous system has time to melt into a puddle of deliciousiousness. A 20 minute Yoga Nidra can have you feeling like you’ve just had a whole nights sleep.
Yoga Nidra is complementary to Zenthai. One is received through touch and movement, the other through stillness and guided awareness. Both share the same essence: creating conditions for the body to soften into safety.
Here is one of my favourite Yoga Nidra practices, there is a 20 minute or 40 minute option in the folder :)
